Hies COntractor

Choosing a HIES (Home Insulation and Energy Systems) Quality Assured Contractors Scheme installer gives you confidence that your renewable energy system will be installed correctly, meet legal standards, and remain eligible for government incentives.

Consumer Protection, Simplified

If you are considering purchasing products to generate, save, or store energy in your home, it is important to choose an installer who is a member of HIES.

HIES operates a Consumer Code approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) and provides consumer protection for the installation of home energy products. Its role is to ensure consumers are treated fairly, protected throughout the process, and given the information they need to make informed decisions about their home improvements.

Accredited installers

Every HIES member must pass a rigorous accreditation process and is regularly monitored to protect consumers and maintain quality.

Insurance backed guarantee

An insurance-backed guarantee provides cover if the installer ceases trading and is unable to meet the terms of their written guarantee. The guarantee is issued after the member confirms the installation completion date with HIES.

Deposit protection

This protection covers up to 25% of the contract value, subject to a maximum of £5,000, for a period of 120 days following registration of the installation with HIES.

Vetted & accredited installers

Every member is carefully vetted, fully accredited, and regularly monitored to protect consumers and ensure quality.

Consumer advice line

HIES provides support and guidance to consumers who have entered into a contract with a HIES scheme member.

Deposit & stage payment protection insurance

Cover is provided for up to 25% of the contract value, subject to a maximum of £5,000, for a period of 120 days following registration of the installation with HIES.

Insurance-Backed Guarantee (IBG)

An insurance-backed guarantee provides protection where the installer has ceased trading and is unable to fulfil the terms of their written guarantee. The IBG is issued after the member confirms the installation completion date with HIES.

Alternative dispute resolution

HIES offers access to expert mediation services to assist in resolving disputes between consumers and HIES members.

Access to an Ombudsman

Consumers using a HIES member are entitled to free access to an independent Ombudsman where HIES is unable to resolve the complaint.
